I’ve been exploring Homey for a while now and must say, it’s been a fantastic journey! A few months back, I decided to give the Homey Bridge a try, and honestly, I’ve been quite impressed. It’s allowed me to integrate a variety of smart devices into my home, from Zigbee lights to some WLAN gadgets. Currently, I’ve got 10 apps running on the Bridge, 18 Zigbee devices, and a couple of WLAN devices. It’s been a smooth experience so far, but I’m now considering expanding my setup.
The thing is, I’m not looking to flood my home with every possible smart device. I prefer a more curated, elegant approach to smart home integration. That’s why I’m contemplating whether to upgrade to the Pro version. I’ve heard great things about it, but the price tag seems a bit steep for my current needs. I’ve also been keeping an eye on the Pro Mini, but it seems like there hasn’t been much activity around it lately.
So, I’m now wondering if the older Pro model (the spherical one) would be a worthwhile investment for my setup. Would it offer a noticeable upgrade over the Bridge, or is it just unnecessary for my small-scale smart home? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s made the switch or has experience with both devices. Your insights would be invaluable as I decide whether to take the plunge!
Another area I’m curious about is integrating devices from multiple brands. I’ve got a mix of Philips Hue, Wyze, and some Ikea devices, and I’m trying to find a seamless way to control them all under one platform. Has anyone successfully managed a multi-brand setup with Homey? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
Lastly, I’m also exploring the possibility of adding more advanced automation routines. For instance, I’d love to have my lights adjust based on the time of day and whether I’m watching something on Kodi. I’ve set up a basic automation for this, but I’m encountering some issues with the conditions. Specifically, I’m using a NOT condition to check if a light is off, but it seems like the automation is triggering regardless of the light’s state. Am I missing something here?
Overall, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and potential that Homey offers, but there’s always room to learn and improve. I’m excited to hear from the community and see how others have tackled similar challenges!
