As a seasoned smarthome enthusiast, I’ve always been on the lookout for a hub that seamlessly integrates with both Z-Wave and Zigbee devices while maintaining compatibility with Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem. After years of experimenting with various platforms like Vera, Fibaro HC2, and even some lesser-known hubs, I finally found a solution that ticks all my boxes: the Hubitat C7.
The Hubitat C7: A Game-Changer
The journey began last Christmas when I received the Hubitat C7. Setting it up over the holidays was a breeze, and I quickly started experimenting with some old Z-Wave devices I had lying around. One of the first things I noticed was the ease of finding firmware updates for these devices, which has always been a pain point for multi-platform users.
However, my real excitement came when I delved into integrating Zigbee 3.0 devices. The ability to connect these devices directly to HomeKit via Hubitat opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I was particularly impressed by how smooth the integration process was, especially after some initial firmware updates and troubleshooting with the community.
