Hey everyone! I’m diving into the world of smart lighting and wanted to share my recent journey while seeking some expert advice.
I currently have a GE Z-Wave dimmer in my dining room, but after switching to LED lights, I noticed some compatibility issues—dimming caused buzzing and flickering. Not ideal! That’s when I decided to give the Hue system a try.
I’m thrilled with the Hue lights I’ve added, and they’ve seamlessly integrated with my existing setup. Here’s where I need your input: when I turn on the dining room lights, they trigger a Z-Wave outlet that controls my china cabinet lights. This is exactly the behavior I want—on when the dining lights are on, off when they’re off.
Now, I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to remove the GE switch entirely and revert to a standard non-Z-Wave switch. Would that allow me to fully leverage the Hue system’s capabilities? Alternatively, should I invest in an LED-compatible Leviton switch to maintain Z-Wave functionality?
I’m leaning towards simplifying with the Hue system, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons of each approach. Any insights or experiences you’ve had with similar setups would be invaluable!
Thanks for your wisdom and keep the ideas flowing! ![]()
