Exploring KNX Integration and Smart Home Automation

This weekend, I decided to dive into integrating KNX into my smart home setup. It’s been a fascinating journey, though not without its challenges. I’ve managed to get most of my devices working seamlessly, but there are a couple of issues I’m still trying to tackle.

First, I noticed that when I set up my KNX lights, they automatically receive an entity ID, which I can’t seem to customize. I’ve tried specifying the entity ID in my configuration, but it doesn’t take effect. The system keeps telling me the entity doesn’t have a unique ID, making it impossible to manage settings through the UI. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Another thing I’m struggling with is updating my KNX configuration without restarting the entire server. Currently, all my KNX settings are in the configuration.yaml file, and any changes require a full restart. It would be fantastic if there was a smarter way to reload the configuration on the fly.

On a more positive note, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with how my other integrations, like Zigbee and Tesla, are working together. It’s amazing how everything can communicate and create a cohesive smart home experience.

I’d love to hear from others who have successfully integrated KNX or have tips on optimizing configurations. Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other overcome these hurdles!
