Exploring Lutron Buttons for Smart Lighting Automation

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation and wanted to share my journey and experiences with the community. My goal is to enhance my home’s lighting system using Lutron buttons alongside my existing setup. Here’s what I’ve been thinking about and exploring:

Why Lutron?
I’ve heard great things about Lutron’s reliability and sleek design. Plus, I love the idea of being able to leave these devices in place if I move in the future. The aesthetics are a big plus for me, and I want something that blends seamlessly with my home decor.

Current Setup and Goals
I currently have a few traditional 3-gang switches that I’d like to replace with smart ones. My plan is to replace two of these with smart switches and buttons to create scenes. For example, I’d like to have a setup where pressing a button turns on specific lights or adjusts their brightness. The bulbs on the third switch would be smart and work in tandem with the buttons, or I could tie them into another lighting system.

Button Selection Dilemma
I’ve been torn between the button options from RadioRA and Caseta. The RadioRA buttons offer a more customizable labeling experience, which is something I really value. However, the Caseta setup is more affordable, and I’d love to stick with that if possible. My main question is: Can I use the RadioRA buttons with the CasetaPro hub? From what I’ve read, it seems like the Caseta system can handle most of what I want, but I’d really like the dedicated, easy-to-label buttons that RadioRA offers.

Exploring Alternatives
If the RadioRA buttons aren’t compatible with Caseta, I’m open to exploring other button options that might fit the bill. I’d love to hear recommendations from anyone who’s had success with similar setups.

Looking Forward
This project is exciting, and I’m eager to see how it comes together. I’d love to hear from others who’ve tackled similar automation projects, especially with Lutron products. What challenges did you face? What tips can you share for a smooth installation and setup?

Let’s keep the conversation going! I’m looking forward to learning from your experiences and sharing mine as I move forward with this project.
