Hello everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of Matter protocol and weather sensors lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and thoughts with you all.
First off, I recently upgraded my Eve devices to Matter, and it’s been a mixed bag. While the new Matter-enabled Eve Energy plug integrated seamlessly with Alexa, the existing Eve Thermos and Energy plug have been giving me some trouble. I’ve been following the setup guide meticulously, but I keep running into the ‘GS013’ error when trying to connect them. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m hopeful that with some more troubleshooting, everything will fall into place.
On another note, I’ve been exploring the idea of standardizing weather sensors data. UPnP has been great for temperature and humidity, but I’m curious about how we can extend this to include wind, rainfall, and pressure data. I think creating UPnP-style service files for these could be a game-changer, allowing plugins to expose both physical weather station data and scraped web data. However, I’m still figuring out how to handle varying units and time spans across different sensors. If anyone has insights or suggestions on this, I’d love to hear them!
Lastly, I wanted to touch on the reliability of Z-Wave devices. I’ve noticed that one of my Schlage locks goes offline randomly, despite being close to the hub. It’s been a bit of a mystery, but I’m considering looking into signal strength metrics or even upgrading the hub’s antennas for better performance.
Overall, it’s been a fascinating journey exploring these technologies. I’m eager to hear your thoughts and experiences, especially if you’ve tackled similar challenges. Let’s keep the conversation going!
