Exploring Motion Sensors for Home Automation

I’ve been really interested in enhancing my home’s security and convenience, and motion sensors seem like the perfect addition! :rocket: I’ve heard amazing things about using motion sensors to automatically turn on lights when I enter a room, but I’m curious about the best practices and experiences others have had. :male_detective::male_sign:

Have you installed any motion sensors in your home? If so, which ones did you choose and how have they performed? I’m particularly interested in knowing how sensitive they are, how easy they were to set up, and if they integrate well with other smart home devices. :hammer_and_wrench:

For instance, I’ve come across the Develco SMSZB-120 smoke detector, but I’m not sure if it’s the best fit for my needs. Has anyone successfully integrated this device with SmartThings or another platform? I’d love to hear about any challenges you faced and how you overcame them. :jigsaw:

Another thing I’m exploring is creating a dedicated room for creativity and tech projects, something like a “Rainbow Room” filled with RGB lighting and smart gadgets. :rainbow::sparkles: If you’ve done something similar, what tools or devices would you recommend for controlling the lighting and atmosphere? I’m thinking of using GOVEE or Blade II products, but I’m open to suggestions! :bulb:

Lastly, I’m looking into updating my Home Assistant installation from version 0.92 to the latest. It’s been running smoothly on an Amlogic S805 media player, but I’m hitting some roadblocks during the upgrade process. :hammer_and_wrench: If anyone has successfully upgraded their system, especially with similar hardware, I’d appreciate any tips or resources you can share.

Let’s chat and share our experiences! I’m excited to learn from everyone’s insights and maybe even pick up a few new tricks for my smart home setup. :rocket::sparkles:
