Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of MQTT and HTTP integrations in Home Assistant lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. ![]()
First off, I’ve been successfully running an MQTT client on my HP23 device, and it’s been a breeze so far. However, I’ve hit a snag that I’m hoping you all can help me with. I’m trying to connect my Homey to two different MQTT servers simultaneously, but the app only allows one configuration at a time. Does anyone know if it’s possible to run multiple instances of the app to achieve this? I’d love to hear your thoughts or workarounds! ![]()
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with HTTP requests to interact with Hub Variables in Home Assistant. I can set a variable using an HTTP POST request, but I’m struggling to figure out how to retrieve that same variable or others via HTTP. If anyone has a guide or example on how to do this, I’d be eternally grateful! ![]()
Speaking of variables, I came across a really cool RGBIC profile for a nightlight that someone shared. It’s designed to help little ones who are afraid of the dark, and the creator recommends keeping the lights at 50% brightness for a better sleeping experience. I’m thinking of giving this a try and would love to hear if others have used similar profiles and how they worked out! ![]()

I also stumbled upon a post about controlling a Z-Wave toggle switch, and it got me thinking about my own setup. I have a mix of Z-Wave devices, and I’m curious if anyone has tips on optimizing performance when controlling a large number of devices at once. I’ve heard about using associations to reduce network load, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement them effectively. Any insights would be awesome! ![]()
Lastly, I wanted to share a fun project I’m working on. I’m trying to set up a virtual motion sensor using Synology Surveillance Station and Maker API. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve managed to get it working for my backyard camera. The idea is to have the virtual sensor trigger actions in Home Assistant based on motion detected by Synology. If anyone has similar setups or tips, I’d love to hear about them! ![]()

Overall, it’s been an exciting journey exploring these integrations and features. I can’t wait to see what other cool stuff I can pull off with Home Assistant! Thanks for reading, and feel free to drop any thoughts or suggestions in the comments below. ![]()
