I’ve been diving into the world of MQTT and OpenHAB integration, and it’s been quite an adventure! For years, I’ve relied on MQTT for its simplicity and reliability, especially with OpenHAB. The ability to transform and manage data seamlessly was always a standout feature. However, with the recent upgrade to MQTT 2.4, I noticed some significant changes that caught me off guard. The removal of the textual binding in favor of a new, more complex ‘THING’ setup was a bit overwhelming. Initially, I struggled to find the ‘publish trigger’ and was frustrated when the old MQTT binding didn’t appear as expected. After some digging, I managed to enable the 1.X bindings, but it was a cumbersome process. Despite these hurdles, I’m excited to explore the new features and see how they can enhance my setup. It’s a learning curve, but I’m determined to make the most of it!
