Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of MQTT and automation lately, and I thought I’d share some of my experiences and tips. 
First off, MQTT has been a game-changer for me. I’ve been able to connect my sensors and cameras to my MQTT broker, which has opened up a whole new level of home monitoring. Plus, with MQTT bridges available for Alexa and Google, integrating everything feels seamless! 
However, I did run into a bit of trouble getting my MQTT setup working smoothly. I followed a guide to the letter, but my OpenHAB logs weren’t showing any connection attempts. After some digging, I realized it was a configuration issue with my mosquitto.cfg file. Once I uncommented the password file reference, everything started working like a charm! 
For anyone else struggling with MQTT, here are a few tips:
- Double-check your broker settings and ensure they match your MQTT binding configuration.
- Use tools like
mosquitto_subto test connectivity and see if messages are being published. - Don’t forget to secure your MQTT broker with proper authentication and encryption.
