Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of MQTT integration and exploring smart thermostat options for my home. Let me share my journey and some questions I have along the way.
First, I’ve been working on setting up MQTT to control my ceiling speakers. I’ve managed to send commands from OpenHAB to my Arduino relay board, which switches the speakers on or off. However, I’m struggling with getting the state of these switches to update in the Basic UI. I’ve tried setting up status topics and virtual devices, but nothing seems to work seamlessly. Does anyone have tips on how to ensure the UI reflects the actual state of my relays?
Moving on to smart thermostats, I’m looking to upgrade my heating system, which currently uses Honeywell dial thermostats with only two wires. I was hoping to go with Ecobee, but I’m not sure if it’s compatible with my setup. Are there other thermostat options that can handle multiple zones and integrate well with my existing system?
Another thing I’ve been curious about is the best practices for setting up door sensors to control lights in different rooms. I have door sensors on my bedroom and bathroom doors, and I want them to trigger the living room lights when I move between these spaces. I’ve tried using zones and virtual devices, but it’s been a bit hit or miss. Any advice on how to make this more reliable would be great!
Lastly, I’ve heard a lot about Govee products and their reliability. I’m wondering if anyone has a favorite Govee device they’d recommend for a home automation setup. I’m particularly interested in their RGB lights and sensors.
Overall, I’m excited to see how these integrations can enhance my home’s automation. Any insights or experiences you can share would be invaluable! Let’s keep the conversation going.
