Hello everyone, I’m diving into the world of MQTT and Tasmota devices, and I wanted to share my journey and some insights with you all. I recently set up a Raspberry Pi 3B with Raspbian and installed openHAB 2.5.0-1 to explore MQTT integration. My goal is to connect my Tasmota-powered smart sockets to openHAB, but I’ve encountered a few hurdles along the way.
First, I installed Mosquitto and Mosquitto-clients via the terminal, and I also added several MQTT-related services and add-ons in openHAB. Despite following various online guides, I’m still struggling to get everything connected seamlessly. I’m wondering if there’s a more straightforward way to configure MQTT with Tasmota devices or if there are specific settings I might be missing.
I’ve noticed that some users have had success with different MQTT brokers or configurations, so I’m curious to hear if anyone has a preferred setup or troubleshooting tips. Additionally, I’m exploring the possibility of using MQTT for more advanced automation tasks, such as scheduling or triggering actions based on sensor data. If anyone has experience with similar projects, I’d love to hear about your approaches and any lessons learned.
On a positive note, I’ve been impressed by the flexibility and potential of MQTT for integrating various smart devices. It’s been a great learning experience, even with the occasional frustration. I’m hopeful that with some more research and experimentation, I’ll be able to get everything working smoothly.
If anyone has advice, resources, or just wants to share their MQTT journey, I’d be happy to continue the discussion! Thanks for reading, and happy tinkering! ![]()
