Exploring Multi-Room Audio and Lighting Automation

I’ve been diving into the world of multi-room audio and lighting automation, and I’m excited to share my experiences and thoughts with the community!

Starting with audio, I’ve been using the Sonos One as a replacement for my older Amazon Echo devices. While the Echos have served me well, I’ve noticed some reliability issues, especially with the first-gen Echo in my office. The Sonos One has been a great upgrade, offering seamless integration with my existing setup. I love how it can participate in speaker groups and respond to Alexa commands, just like my other devices. However, I’m curious if others have mixed Sonos and Echo devices and how they handle voice commands and routines across both brands.

On the lighting front, I’ve been experimenting with Govee RGBIC LED strips. They’ve completely transformed my home’s ambiance, especially when synced with music through the Govee app. It’s amazing how lighting can enhance the mood of a room. I’d love to see more features in the Govee API, like custom scenes and DIY modes, to take control to the next level!

One challenge I’ve faced is ensuring smooth integration with my SmartThings setup. I’ve had some issues with devices not responding as expected, especially with routines involving both audio and lighting. I’d appreciate any tips or tricks others might have for optimizing these kinds of setups.

If anyone has experience with multi-room audio controllers or advanced lighting automation, I’d love to hear about your setups and any lessons learned. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create smarter, more connected homes!
