Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and recently got my hands on a pair of Nanoleaf Canvas panels. They’ve been a fantastic addition to my setup, offering vibrant colors and smooth transitions. However, I’ve encountered an interesting challenge with their touch functionality that I’d love to discuss with the community.
I’ve been trying to implement tap events as toggle switches for certain lights. While the panels respond well to swipes, taps haven’t been working as expected. I’ve gone through various configurations in OpenHAB, enabling different event types like SHORT_PRESS and SHORT_PRESSED, but nothing seems to trigger the desired response. The logs indicate some issues with touch job rediscovery and context area validity, which I’m still trying to make sense of.
I’ve also noticed that the touch event sources don’t show up in Home Kit, which is a bit puzzling. It’s almost as if the touch functionality isn’t fully integrating with the ecosystem as intended. I’ve reached out to Nanoleaf support, but thought I’d also share my experience here in case anyone else has encountered similar issues or has found a workaround.
Would love to hear if others have had success with tap events or have any insights into what might be causing this behavior. Maybe there’s a firmware update or a specific configuration step I’ve missed. Fingers crossed we can get this sorted out and make the most of the Canvas panels’ potential!
Cheers,
Martin
