Exploring NAS-WR01ZE Firmware Versions and Device Integration

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately, and I wanted to share my experiences with the NAS-WR01ZE switches. For those who might not know, these devices are a great addition to any smart home setup, offering reliable performance and integration with various systems. However, I’ve encountered some interesting quirks that I thought would be worth discussing.

First off, I’ve noticed that different firmware versions of these devices are being detected as separate database items. Specifically, firmware versions 2.23 and 2.32 are both mapped to database item 1014, while version 3.94 is mapped to item 397. This got me thinking: is there a reason for this discrepancy? From what I can gather, the 3.94 version seems to align more closely with the manual’s specifications, which makes me wonder if the 2.23 devices should indeed be using database item 397 instead. I’ve tried adjusting the settings myself, but I’m not entirely sure if this is the right approach. Any insights from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Another issue I’ve come across is the inability to change the reporting interval on the 2.23 devices using the fields provided by database item 1014. This is a bit frustrating, as it limits the customization options for these devices. I’ve been running the latest Z-Wave version (2.5.1.202001070048) and have manually installed it to avoid detection issues with other devices. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s something I’d love to see addressed in future updates.

On a more positive note, I’ve been impressed with how seamlessly these devices integrate with my existing smart home setup. The fact that they’re always on and can be controlled through various apps is a huge plus. It’s also great to see that the community is so active and willing to help troubleshoot issues. I’ve found some fantastic resources and tips that have really helped me optimize my setup.

If anyone has any advice on how to resolve the firmware and reporting interval issues, or if there’s a workaround I haven’t considered yet, I’d be more than happy to hear about it. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of these devices!

Cheers,
Torkil
