Exploring Offline Mode for Somfy Tahoma Binding

Hello fellow openHAB enthusiasts, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I’m currently exploring the Somfy Tahoma binding. It’s been an exciting journey, but I’ve hit a snag that I’m hoping the community can help me with.

I’ve successfully integrated my Somfy Tahoma Switch using the openHAB 4.1.3 binding in developer mode, and it’s been working like a charm. The ability to control my blinds remotely has been a game-changer for my home setup. However, I’ve noticed that the binding requires an internet connection to function properly. This means that if my internet goes down, I lose control over my blinds, which is less than ideal, especially for a system that’s supposed to be reliable.

I’ve read through the documentation and forums, and I understand that the binding relies on the Somfy portal for login and token generation. But I’m wondering if there’s a way to make this more resilient. Specifically, I’d love to know if it’s possible to configure the binding to work in offline mode, using a pre-obtained token. This would mean that even if my internet connection is unavailable, I could still control my blinds locally through openHAB.

I’ve tried a few things, like saving the token manually and attempting to restart the binding without internet access, but it doesn’t seem to work. The logs indicate a timeout when trying to retrieve the login cookie. I’m not entirely sure if this is due to a missing configuration or if it’s a limitation of the current binding implementation.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any workarounds or configurations that allow the Somfy Tahoma binding to operate without an active internet connection once the initial setup is complete? I’d be grateful for any insights or suggestions the community might have.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and hopefully finding a solution to make my smart blinds more reliable!

Best regards,
Akira
