Hi everyone, I recently made the switch from OpenHAB 1 to OpenHAB 2 for my production system. The migration process was smooth, especially with the KNX binding and JPA integration, which worked seamlessly. I’m excited to explore the new features and improvements in OH2, but I’ve encountered a few challenges along the way.
One of the first things I noticed was the Paper UI interface. While it’s still a bit unfamiliar to me, I’m looking forward to discovering all its capabilities. However, I’ve run into an issue with Habmin2. After installing it, I noticed that it couldn’t load any items or bindings. I’ve installed the necessary zwave binding and habmin2 binding for OH2, but the problem persists. Does anyone have any advice or insights on how to resolve this?
Another area I’m exploring is the Z-Wave integration. I’ve successfully added my Z-Wave USB Stick and Fibaro Dimmer 2, which I can control via the web interface. However, I’m having trouble with the Z-Wave Wall Switch. It doesn’t seem to communicate properly, and I’m getting internal server errors when trying to edit its properties. The logs indicate communication issues, which I’m still trying to troubleshoot. Has anyone else encountered similar problems or found a solution?
Looking ahead, I’m interested in leveraging OpenHAB’s flexibility to streamline my automation rules. For instance, I use a collection of sound files stored in hub variables, and I’m curious if there’s a way to create an array variable for easier management. This would allow me to reference sounds dynamically, reducing the need for multiple rules and IF/ENDIF statements. Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with MQTT integration, but I’m encountering a persistent ‘Connection reset by peer’ error. Despite configuring the broker settings correctly and ensuring secure connections, the issue remains. I’ve tried reflashing and reinstalling multiple times, but without success. I’m hoping the community can offer some guidance or troubleshooting steps.
Overall, OpenHAB 2 is impressing me with its robustness and new features. I’m eager to continue exploring and overcoming these challenges to fully harness its potential. Thanks in advance for any help or insights you can share!
