I recently upgraded to OpenHAB 3 and, like many of you, found the transition a bit overwhelming. Coming from an older version, the new interface and features were quite a shock. I decided to dive in and explore the new models and pages, but honestly, it was a bit confusing at first.
I started by watching tutorials and reading up on the semantic model, but it still didn’t quite click. I remember trying to set up a simple dashboard and being frustrated by how empty everything felt. The old sitemaps worked well, but I wanted to embrace the new features.
After some trial and error, I found that creating locations and groups was the key. It took a while, but I managed to recreate my old setup using the new system. I also discovered that using the ‘Add Equipment’ feature required selecting channels first, which wasn’t immediately obvious.
One thing I’m still unsure about is the best way to handle device integration. I noticed that some devices were automatically recognized, like my blinds, but others required more setup. I’m curious to hear how others have managed this transition and if there are any tips or tricks to make the process smoother.
Overall, I’m excited about the potential of OpenHAB 3 and can’t wait to explore more features. If anyone has advice or shared their experiences, I’d love to hear about it!
