Exploring OpenHAB 3 for Lighting Scenes

Hi everyone, I’m really excited to dive into creating lighting scenes using OpenHAB 3. I’ve heard so much about its capabilities, especially with the new features in version 3, but I’m still figuring out the best approach. I’ve been following the discussions about group nesting and how it can be used to create dynamic lighting scenarios, but I’m curious if there’s a more streamlined way to achieve this, especially with the semantic model and GA item tags in the Main UI.

I’ve started by experimenting with some basic scenes, like setting up a ‘Goodnight’ routine that dims the lights and turns off unnecessary devices. It’s been a fun process, but I’m hitting a few roadblocks. For instance, I’m not entirely sure how to effectively reuse groups across different scenes without duplicating configurations. I’ve also noticed that some devices don’t respond as quickly as I’d like, which I suspect might be related to how the groups are structured.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully implemented lighting scenes in OpenHAB 3. What design patterns have worked best for you? Are there any tips or tricks for optimizing performance and ensuring smooth transitions between scenes? Any insights or shared examples would be incredibly helpful!
