Hello everyone! I’m excited to share my recent journey into the world of smart home automation with OpenHAB 3. After doing some research, I decided to go with a Raspberry Pi 4 B for its increased RAM, which should help with handling more devices smoothly. I also picked up a ZigBee stick (CC2531) and a Tuya switch (QS-Zigbee-S05-LN) to start my setup. The idea was to avoid running additional cables for the smart switch, given my current home wiring setup.
I installed OpenHAB 3, and it was a breeze! The WLAN devices were recognized right away after setting up the bindings. The ZigBee stick was also detected without any issues, which was great. But here’s where things got a bit tricky: the Tuya switch wasn’t being picked up by OpenHAB. I tried resetting it multiple times, following the instructions, but no luck. It just wouldn’t pair.
I did a quick search and found a workaround using ZigBee2MQTT, which worked! But now I have to choose between using ZigBee2MQTT and the OpenHAB binding, which isn’t ideal. I’d love to have everything integrated within OpenHAB for easier management.
So, I’m curious—has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a fix or a workaround that allows the Tuya switch to work seamlessly with OpenHAB 3? Or should I consider a different switch altogether? I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences you’ve had.
On a positive note, it’s been fascinating to explore OpenHAB 3 and see its potential. I’m optimistic that with the community’s support, I’ll find a solution soon. Happy automating everyone! ![]()
