Exploring OpenHAB 4.1.x and MQTT Integration

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. I recently upgraded my OpenHAB setup to version 4.1.x, and while it’s been a smooth transition overall, I’ve encountered a few bumps along the way.

One thing that’s been on my mind is the configuration profiles not working as expected after the upgrade. For instance, I set up a profile to update a DateTime item whenever a specific channel changes, but it doesn’t seem to trigger at all. I’m wondering if there’s something I’m missing in the setup or if others have faced similar issues. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with MQTT to integrate a DIY doorbell system into my setup. Using an ESP8266 module, I’ve managed to send signals to an MQTT broker whenever the doorbell is pressed. While I can monitor the topic using MQTTFX, I’m still figuring out the best way to get OpenHAB to notify me when someone rings the bell. If anyone has tips or成功案例 on setting this up, I’d love to hear about them!

Another area I’ve been exploring is the integration of third-party devices, like IP cameras, using the Ezlo Plus app. Unfortunately, I’ve run into some issues where the app doesn’t recognize the cameras despite them working fine in a browser. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m hopeful there’s a workaround out there.

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about how to streamline my smart home setup further. With so many devices and automations, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but I’m determined to find a balance that works for me. Whether it’s tweaking existing rules or discovering new features, I’m excited to continue this journey.

If anyone has advice, tips, or just wants to share their experiences, please feel free to jump in. The more we share, the more we all learn! Thanks for being such an amazing community.
