Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of OpenHAB and recently gave Habmin a try. Running OpenHAB 1.7 on Debian, I’ve installed the demo files and made some tweaks to understand how everything integrates. So far, it’s been a smooth experience with DMX and KNX setups, and the concept of items, sitemaps, and their organization has really clicked for me!
Initially, I installed Habmin1, which worked seamlessly. I placed the Habmin JAR in the addons folder and the webapp files in the webapps directory, and it ran without any issues. But when I tried Habmin2 on a fresh virtual machine setup, I encountered errors and no useful output. After removing Habmin2 and reinstalling Habmin1, everything worked immediately, which suggests that the OpenHAB installation itself isn’t the problem.
However, I’m still unclear about Habmin2’s compatibility with OpenHAB 1.X. The documentation doesn’t explicitly state whether it’s designed for OpenHAB 2 or if it can work with older versions. If anyone has insights or experiences with Habmin2 on OpenHAB 1.X, I’d love to hear about it!
This journey has been both challenging and rewarding. It’s amazing how understanding the underlying concepts can transform a system from confusing to functional.
