I recently dove into the world of smart home automation with OpenHAB, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the most intriguing aspects for me has been exploring the rule language, especially with JavaScript. While I’ve managed to get some basic rules up and running, I’m constantly curious about the deeper functionalities and best practices.
I stumbled upon a fantastic example thread by @rlkoshak, which provided some excellent insights into writing and using JavaScript libraries within OpenHAB. However, as I started digging deeper, I realized there’s so much more to uncover. I’m particularly interested in understanding how to handle events and actions more efficiently, and I have countless questions about the available methods and objects.
Would it be possible to have a comprehensive documentation resource, similar to JavaDoc, that details all the OpenHAB-specific JavaScript methods and objects? I believe such a resource would greatly enhance the learning experience for newcomers like myself and provide a solid foundation for creating more sophisticated rules.
In the meantime, I’m excited to continue experimenting and learning from the community. If anyone has tips or resources they’d like to share, I’d be more than grateful! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other unlock the full potential of OpenHAB’s rule language. ![]()
