Exploring OpenTherm Compatibility and System Stability

I recently upgraded my boiler to one that supports OpenTherm, which is a fantastic step forward in terms of efficiency and control. However, I’m now faced with a bit of a dilemma. My current thermostat is an older model that doesn’t support OpenTherm, and while I’d love to upgrade to a newer, compatible model, there’s a catch. My system has two additional non-modulating pumps installed on the collector, which complicates things.

Here’s where I’m stuck: if I modulate the boiler’s pump, will it cause issues with the two non-modulating pumps that are always running at full capacity? I’m worried about potential damage to the heating system or a complete breakdown. Is there a way to safely integrate the modulating pump with the existing setup without risking system failure?

I’ve done some research, but I’m still not entirely sure how to proceed. Any advice or insights would be incredibly helpful. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled a similar situation or has expertise in OpenTherm and pump compatibility. Thanks in advance for your guidance!
