Exploring OTA Updates Across Smart Home Platforms

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and one feature that stands out to me is OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates. As someone who values seamless integration and minimal downtime, understanding how different platforms handle OTA updates is crucial.

I’ve been considering an upgrade from my current setup to either the latest Homey Pro 2023 or Home Assistant (HA). One of the deciding factors is OTA support for Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter devices. From what I gather, HA offers OTA support for Zigbee and Z-Wave, with limited support for Matter. But what about the new Homey Pro 2023? Does it support OTA updates for all three protocols? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s already made the switch to the new Homey Pro and can share their experience.

On another note, I stumbled upon a Sonoff BasicZBR2 relay that’s been a game-changer for my LED Halloween tree setup. Previously, I was using an old Leviton relay, which had a frustrating issue where the LEDs would faintly blink even when the relay was off. The Sonoff BasicZBR2 eliminated that problem entirely, ensuring a completely off state when needed. It’s these small improvements that make the smart home journey so rewarding!

If you’ve had similar experiences or tips on optimizing your smart home setup, I’d love to hear about them. Let’s keep the conversation flowing and help each other make the most of our smart home ecosystems!
