Exploring Outdoor Temperature Sensors and Smart Lighting Integration

As a homeowner passionate about optimizing my smart home setup, I’ve been on a journey to find the perfect outdoor temperature sensor and integrate my smart lighting system seamlessly. Let me share my experiences and insights!

Outdoor Temperature Sensor Search
I’ve been searching for an outdoor temperature sensor that doesn’t rely on internet connectivity or battery-powered devices. The ideal solution would be one that can be integrated into my OTGW heating system. After some research, I came across the Shelly Plus Uni combined with a DS18B20 sensor. While it’s not the most elegant solution, it gets the job done reliably without internet dependency. However, I’m still curious if there’s a more integrated weather station option that avoids cloud dependency—any recommendations would be appreciated!

Smart Lighting Integration
On the lighting front, I’ve successfully integrated Philips Hue bulbs with Osram Lighty strips in one of my rooms. Using the Hue Dimmer Switch, I wanted to control both the Hue bulbs and the Osram strip simultaneously. After some trial and error, I discovered that importing the Hue Dimmer Switch into SmartThings and setting up a simple automation rule did the trick. Now, adjusting the dimmer not only controls the Hue bulbs but also seamlessly integrates the Osram strip into the setup. It’s a small victory but makes a big difference in my daily routine!

Community Support
I’d like to give a shoutout to the SmartThings community for their invaluable assistance. Whether it’s troubleshooting connectivity issues or sharing creative workarounds, the collective knowledge here is truly inspiring. If anyone has tips on finding a weather station that avoids cloud dependency or suggestions for enhancing smart lighting integration, please share!

Looking Forward
As I continue to explore and optimize my smart home setup, I’m excited about the possibilities that new devices and integrations bring. I’m particularly interested in hearing about others’ experiences with outdoor sensors and lighting systems. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create smarter, more connected homes!

Cheers to the journey of smart home innovation! :rocket:
