Hi all, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately and decided to give Philips Hue a try. While I’ve heard great things about their ecosystem, I’m curious to see if I can integrate them into my existing OpenHAB setup without needing to purchase a separate Hue bridge.
I came across some discussions suggesting it’s possible, but I wanted to test it out myself. So far, I’ve managed to connect a few Hue bulbs via Zigbee2MQTT, and it’s been a smooth experience. The colors and brightness adjustments are spot on, and the integration with my other smart devices has been seamless.
However, I do have a couple of questions that I’m hoping the community can shed some light on. First, if a Hue light is removed from the network, does the entire setup need to be reconfigured? I’ve read some older posts that mention this as a potential issue, but I’m not sure if it’s still relevant with the latest firmware updates.
Secondly, are there any limitations or quirks with Philips Hue that I should be aware of? I’m particularly interested in how they handle color temperature adjustments, as I’ve heard this is an area where some smart lights can fall short.
If anyone has successfully integrated Philips Hue into their OpenHAB setup or has tips on best practices, I’d love to hear your experiences! Your insights would be invaluable as I continue to explore and expand my smart lighting setup. Cheers, David
