Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Philips Hue lights recently, and I wanted to share my experience and a handy workaround I discovered. I’ve been using the Homey Pro hub, which is fantastic for connecting various smart devices, but I ran into a bit of a snag when trying to add Philips Hue bulbs without a bridge.
From what I’ve read online, most guides say it’s not possible to connect Hue bulbs to other hubs without a bridge, but I was determined to find a solution. After some research and experimentation, I figured out a method using an Alexa device to reset the bulbs, which then allows them to be added to Homey. Here’s how it worked for me:
- Alexa Setup: I opened the Alexa app and tried adding a Philips Hue bulb. It failed because the bulb was already connected to another system, but the process triggered a reset.
- Reset Process: After entering the bulb’s serial number, the reset was initiated. I immediately closed the Alexa app to prevent it from reconnecting.
- Homey Integration: I then opened the Homey app, searched for new devices, and selected Zigbee. The Hue bulb was detected and added without any issues!
This workaround has been a lifesaver for me, especially since I prefer not to use a separate bridge. It’s been working smoothly for the past couple of days, and I’m thrilled with how seamlessly everything integrates now.
If anyone else has tried similar methods or has tips for integrating Hue bulbs without a bridge, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Let’s keep the smart home innovations flowing. ![]()
