Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Plugwise devices and OpenHAB, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you. I’ve recently noticed some recurring issues with Plugwise ACK errors and protocol problems in my logs. Specifically, I’m seeing messages like Error sending: No ACK received after 1 second
every few minutes. Has anyone else encountered this? I’ve isolated my setup to just OpenHAB and Plugwise, so it’s not related to other bindings or devices. I’d love to hear if there are any known solutions or workarounds for this.
On a more positive note, I’ve been experimenting with improving my home automation setup, particularly with my south-facing windows. I’ve set up some flows to control my roller shutters based on sunlight levels and solar position. However, I’m finding that the automation doesn’t always behave as expected, especially after solar noon. I’m considering adjusting the luminance thresholds dynamically throughout the day, but I’m not sure how to implement this efficiently without complicating my flows further. Any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated!
Another area I’m exploring is integrating different smart home ecosystems. I’ve been using SmartThings for a while and am now looking into Homebridge. I’m curious if it’s possible to control Homebridge devices directly from Hubitat, or if I’d need to write additional plugins. This would streamline my setup and allow me to manage everything from one interface.
Lastly, I wanted to share a success story. I recently upgraded my OpenHAB setup to the latest snapshot and enabled JSR223 support with Jython. It’s been a game-changer for scripting rules and automations. However, I’m still figuring out how to cancel timers or triggers once they’re set. If anyone has tips or examples on how to manage this in Jython, I’d be grateful!
Overall, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and power of OpenHAB and the wider smart home ecosystem. It’s a bit challenging at times, but the community support and resources make it all worthwhile. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
