Exploring Reolink Cameras: A Smooth Transition from Arlo?

I’ve been using Arlo cameras for quite some time now, but I’m starting to explore the possibility of switching to Reolink. I recently purchased the Reolink Atlas PT Ultra to test it out, and I’m curious about a few things before making the full transition. Here’s what’s on my mind:

  1. Remote Viewing: If I get the Reolink Home Hub or Pro, can I view camera events through the app even when I’m not on my home WiFi network? This is crucial for me since I often need to check in while I’m out.

  2. Standby Mode: Arlo has a handy “Stand By” feature that temporarily disables all cameras, which is great when I’m doing yard work and don’t need constant recording. Does Reolink offer something similar?

  3. Placement Flexibility: I have strong WiFi coverage throughout my home. Can I place the Reolink Home Hub in my basement near my router and other equipment, as long as the cameras can connect to my WiFi?

  4. Solar Panels: I’m leaning towards using pre-record instead of 24/7 recording. Would the Reolink 12W solar panel make a significant difference compared to the 6W version? I’m also considering getting a mix of regular Atlas Ultras and PT Ultras if I decide to fully switch.

  5. Replacing Nest Doorbell: I’d like to replace my Google Nest doorbell with Reolink. I’ll need to hardwire it, just like my current setup. Can it handle 24/7 recording via the hub, and should I go for the battery version or something else? The Reolink site’s details on this are a bit confusing.

If anyone has experience with Reolink cameras or can shed light on these questions, I’d greatly appreciate it! I’m really excited about the potential of Reolink but want to make sure it’s the right fit for my setup.
