Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Ring door/window sensors and have some interesting experiences to share. I recently set up a Gen1 Ring door/window sensor with my SmartThings hub, but I’ve encountered a peculiar issue where the sensor constantly shows as OPEN, even when it’s clearly closed. I’ve tried troubleshooting by searching the forum and using the Device Handler for Gen2, but the problem persists. Has anyone else faced this and found a solution? I’d love to hear your insights!
Moving on to cameras, I’ve noticed that my front camera is recording events, but I’m unable to connect to it directly. It’s frustrating because the rear camera doesn’t even show up in the timeline now. Being 60 miles away, I can’t physically access the devices, so I’m relying on the app to troubleshoot. Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!
Another issue I’ve come across is with Fibaro motion sensors. The first one worked perfectly, but the second sensor didn’t report motion or show acceleration and tamper states. Despite including, excluding, and factory resetting, the problem remains. I’m considering returning these sensors, but I’d hate to give up without a proper fix. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues?
Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with the Astro binding to create lighting rules based on noon. My goal is to automate lights for my houseplants, providing them with consistent daylight. While I’ve managed to set up some rules, there’s been some unexpected behavior, like lights turning off at midnight. I’m curious if others have successfully implemented similar setups and what challenges they faced.
