Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into setting up a security system for my home and stumbled upon an interesting challenge. I’ve noticed that when using SmartThings Home Monitor, there’s no built-in delay or warning sound before the system arms itself. This has been a bit confusing, especially when I’m rushing out the door and want to make sure everything is secure without having to check the system manually.
I’ve set up contact sensors on all doors and windows, motion sensors, and integrated presence detection using my phone. The system arms automatically when we’re out, which is super convenient. However, that missing delay or beep is something I really miss. It would be awesome to have a spoken warning or a beep to let me know the system is about to arm, giving me a quick heads-up if I forgot to disarm it.
I’ve looked into using the wall-mounted tablets I have around the house to manually arm or disarm the system, but it would be so much smoother if there was a delay feature. Similarly, when entering the house, a beep or voice prompt letting me know the alarm has been triggered unless disarmed would add that extra layer of security and convenience.
Has anyone found a workaround or a smart way to implement this? I’m thinking maybe through some smart app automation or even a custom routine. It seems like a straightforward feature, and I’m sure others would find it useful too. Any thoughts, tips, or links to resources would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
