Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring how to integrate Shelly devices into my small solar energy setup. I have a Mini-PV system with two LG solar panels (2x365W) connected to a Hoymiles HM 600 inverter. My goal is to monitor and process the data from this setup using my computer or laptop running Windows 10. I’ve come across a few questions and would love to hear your experiences or insights!
First, I’m curious about the Shelly devices’ compatibility. I’ve heard of the Shelly EM and Shelly 1PM models, but I’m not sure which one would be better suited for my solar setup. I’d like to track the power output from both panels, so I need something that can handle multiple data points accurately. If I connect the Shelly device to the grid box where the power from the inverter comes in, would that give me the readings I need? Also, I’ve noticed that the Shelly app has a feature for current measurement with clamps rated at 50A. I’m not entirely sure how that works when the Shelly is already connected directly to the live and neutral lines. Could someone explain that to me?
Another thing I’m wondering about is the language support in the Shelly app. My system is set up in a German-speaking region, so having the app interface in German would be really helpful. Does the Shelly app support German? And does it work seamlessly on both mobile devices and desktop computers running Windows 10? I’d love to know if others have successfully used Shelly devices for similar solar monitoring projects and what their setup looked like.
On a related note, I’ve also been looking into the Astro binding for OpenHAB to track the sun’s position. I have some graphs showing my solar panels’ production and my electricity usage, and I’d like to correlate that with the sun’s position to ensure everything is working as expected. However, I’m not very familiar with all the sun and moon channels in the Astro binding. Has anyone here managed to set that up successfully? I’d appreciate any tips or resources you might have.
Overall, I’m really excited about the possibilities Shelly devices offer for monitoring my solar setup, but I’d love to get some guidance to make sure I’m on the right track. Thanks in advance for your help and insights!
