Exploring Smart Camera Customization and Motion Detection

Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart cameras lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and tips. I recently upgraded my Wyze Cam to the latest model and have been impressed with the improvements in video quality and night vision. However, I’ve noticed an issue where the night vision IR lights occasionally turn on automatically, even when I’ve set them to off. This has been a bit frustrating, especially since it only happens with one of my cameras. I’ve tried toggling the settings multiple times, and it works temporarily, but the issue returns the next day. Has anyone else encountered this and found a reliable solution?

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with motion detection and IFTTT integration. I set up a rule where my lights turn on when motion is detected in the hallway, but I’m running into some challenges. The lights activate perfectly when motion is detected, but they don’t turn off automatically after a set time. I’ve tried using scenes and timers, but it doesn’t seem to be working as intended. I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup or has tips on how to troubleshoot this.

I also wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on. I’ve been using ESP8266 modules with PIR sensors to create custom motion sensors around my home. They connect to my MQTT broker and integrate seamlessly with my smart home setup. It’s been a great way to add more automation without breaking the bank. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has suggestions for improving the system.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring different ways to customize my smart home dashboard. I’ve found that using template widgets allows me to create a more personalized interface, but I’m still trying to figure out how to add a simple clock display. If anyone has tips on how to incorporate a clock into their dashboard, I’d be grateful for the advice!

Overall, it’s been an exciting journey learning more about smart home technology, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.
