Exploring Smart Camera Integration: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! :star2: I wanted to share my recent journey of integrating an Aqara G2H Pro camera into my Frigate setup via HomeKit and Go2RTC. It was a bit of a puzzle at first, but I managed to piece it all together. Here’s what I learned:

  1. Installation Basics: Start by installing the Frigate addon and Go2RTC addon. These are essential for streaming and managing camera feeds effectively.

  2. Adding the Camera: Add the Aqara camera to the Aqara app first. Once it’s recognized, it should appear in Home Assistant as a HomeKit camera. From there, you can add it to Go2RTC.

  3. Go2RTC Configuration: The tricky part was understanding where to input the HomeKit URL in Go2RTC. It’s under the Home Assistant section, not HomeKit. Copy the location link from there and configure the WebRTC settings in Go2RTC.

  4. Frigate Setup: Finally, update Frigate’s configuration to point to the new RTSP feed. This involved setting the path to rtsp://YOURHAIP:8556/your_camera_name.

I stumbled a bit on steps 5 and 6, but persistence paid off! :tada: This setup now gives me a seamless camera integration with Frigate’s powerful features. If anyone else is tackling this, I hope this guide saves you some time!

Happy smart home tinkering! :hammer_and_wrench::sparkles:
