Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I’m reaching out to gather some insights on smart cameras, specifically for keeping an eye on our beloved pets while we’re away. My wife and I are planning a much-needed vacation, but we have a cat who will be staying home with a trusted friend. We want to ensure her safety and comfort, and a smart camera seems like the perfect solution.
I’ve been researching the Wyze Cam 620pt, which seems like a solid choice given its specs and price point. However, I have a couple of questions before I make the final decision. First, how does the camera perform in low-light conditions? Our living room is quite bright during the day, but at night, it’s mostly lit by a small table lamp. Would the camera’s 0.3 lux rating be sufficient for clear footage?
Second, I’d like to clarify the cloud storage aspect. I understand that enabling the Level 1 cloud subscription costs $5 a month. Does this subscription cap the number of clips stored at 1000, or is it a monthly limit? For instance, if I exceed 1000 clips in a month, does the oldest clip get overwritten, or does the system simply stop recording?
I’m also curious if anyone has experience with similar setups. How did you ensure consistent monitoring without overwhelming the cloud storage? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. Let’s make sure our furry friends feel as safe and loved as they do when we’re home! ![]()
