Exploring Smart Ceiling Fans and Wall Switch Integration

Hello everyone, I’m currently in the process of upgrading my ceiling fan and I’ve stumbled upon an interesting challenge. I’ve decided to go with a DC fan that has built-in Tuya controls for activation through my phone and Google Assistant. However, I’d like to retain the functionality of my existing Tuya wall switch, which has four buttons (Light, Slow, Medium, High). The issue I’m facing is that the new fan supports up to six or seven air speeds, but my wall switch only has three speed settings.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to map the wall switch’s three buttons to specific speeds on the fan. For example, could I set it up so that pressing the slow button activates speeds 1 or 2, the medium button activates speeds 3 or 4, and the high button activates speeds 5 or 6? Additionally, I’d like the corresponding light on the wall switch to indicate which speed the fan is currently running on.

I’ve done a bit of research and found that some users have successfully programmed their wall switches to control fan speeds in a similar fashion, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement this myself. If anyone has experience with this or knows of a resource that could guide me through the process, I’d be incredibly grateful.

On a related note, I’m also curious about whether it’s possible to use the wall switch in a remote control mode, similar to how I’ve set up my stairway lights. In that setup, only one switch is wired into the circuit, while the others act as remote controls. I’d love to achieve the same functionality with my ceiling fan and wall switch combination.

If anyone has tackled a similar project or has any insights or tips, please share! I’m excited to hear from the community and learn more about the possibilities here. Thanks in advance for your help!
