Hi all, I’ve been thinking about integrating my coffee maker into my smart home setup, but I’ve always been hesitant due to the risk of it turning on without water. However, after reading about moisture sensors and DIY projects, I started brainstorming a solution.
Here’s my idea: using a moisture sensor placed in the coffee maker’s water tank. The sensor would detect if there’s water present. If water is detected, the coffee maker would start brewing at a scheduled time. If not, it would send me an alert. This way, I could ensure my coffee is ready in the morning without the risk of running dry.
I’m also thinking about integrating this with other smart home features. For example, after brewing, the coffee maker could automatically turn off after a few hours using a power allowance app. Alerts could be sent through my Sonos system or via text.
I’m curious if anyone has experience with similar setups or if there are existing apps that could handle this automation. I’d love to hear your thoughts or any potential pitfalls I should consider! ![]()
