I’ve been thinking about adding a smart fan switch to my automated home setup, but I’m not entirely sure how it will work with my existing fan. Let me share my experience and thoughts on this topic.
I currently have a Westinghouse fan that I control wirelessly with a remote. With this remote, I can adjust both the fan speed and the lights. However, there’s only one switch on the wall. If I turn it off, both the fan and the lights go off. If I toggle the switch on, I can then use the remote to turn the lights or the fan on individually.
My question is: Can I control both the fan and the lights with a single smart switch? Or will I need separate switches for each? I’ve heard that some smart switches allow for dual control, but I’m not sure how that works in practice.
I’ve done some research and found that there are smart switches designed to handle multiple functions, but I’m concerned about compatibility with my existing setup. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated a smart fan switch into their home automation system, especially if they have a similar setup to mine.
If anyone has tips or recommendations on how to achieve this, I’d be grateful! Thanks in advance for your insights.
