Exploring Smart Home Automation: My Journey with Somfy Glydea and Govee

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences diving into the world of smart home automation. It’s been an exciting journey filled with discoveries and challenges, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips!

Somfy Glydea Zigbee Integration
I recently acquired a Somfy Glydea Zigbee Plug-In Control Module, and I must say, it’s been a game-changer for my home automation setup. Pairing it with my SmartThings Hub via Zigbee was a breeze, but the real challenge came in getting it to work seamlessly with my curtains. Initially, the device was recognized as an unknown “Thing,” so I had to do some tinkering. I changed the device type to Zigbee Switch on the IDE panel and modified some device types and smartapps using basic GitHub Integration. While I’m not a pro at programming, it was a rewarding experience to see everything come together. If anyone has tips or resources on creating a basic Device type for curtain motors, I’d be grateful!

Govee Scenes: A Visual Delight
Another highlight of my journey has been exploring the new Govee scenic dreamview scenes. They’re absolutely stunning, and I’ve spent hours cycling through them, especially the Cosmic Echoes scene—it’s so calming and peaceful. I’ve also been impressed with how the curtain 2 scenes enhance the experience. It’s amazing how lighting can transform a space, and Govee really nails it with these scenes.

Smart Curtains: A Morning Routine Hack
I’d love to hear how others manage their smart curtains. I’ve set mine to open gradually in the morning, which wakes me up gently without the harshness of an alarm clock. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in my daily routine. If anyone has tips on optimizing curtain automation, I’d love to learn more!

This journey has been all about learning, experimenting, and making my home a bit smarter and more comfortable. I’m excited to see what the future holds and can’t wait to explore more possibilities with these devices!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
