Exploring Smart Home Automation: My Journey with Zooz Sensors

I’ve recently delved into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the devices I’ve been particularly interested in is the Zooz 4-in-1 v2 sensor. I purchased a couple of these sensors to enhance my home’s security and convenience. Setting up the first sensor was a breeze—my Hubitat ecosystem detected it immediately and configured it without any issues. It was seamless, and I was thrilled to see it working right out of the box!

However, when I tried to add a second sensor, things took a turn. I followed the same inclusion process: starting the inclusion on my Hubitat app, double-clicking the sensor’s button, and waiting for it to be recognized. The app did detect it, showing the familiar “Found Z-Wave device with id XX” message and starting the initialization. But here’s where the problem arose—it just sat there, stuck at the initialization stage, never progressing further. I tried everything I could think of: excluding the device, performing a factory reset, even contacting Zooz for support. They sent me another unit, but the issue persisted. Now I’m left wondering, is there something I’m missing? Does the Hubitat ecosystem only support one Zooz sensor at a time? Has anyone else successfully set up multiple Zooz sensors? Did you have to do anything special to get them working?

On a more positive note, I’ve had fantastic experiences with other devices like door contact sensors and a smoke/CO alarm, which all set up effortlessly. It’s just this particular sensor that’s giving me a run for my money. I’m eager to hear from anyone who might have encountered and overcome this challenge. Whether you’ve found a workaround or have some troubleshooting tips, I’d be grateful for any insights!

This experience has only deepened my appreciation for the potential of smart home devices. They truly have the power to make our lives more comfortable and secure, and I’m excited to continue exploring this ever-evolving technology. If anyone has faced similar hurdles or has advice to share, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate the fascinating world of smart home automation.
