Exploring Smart Home Automation with Arlo and Starlink

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an exciting journey! :rocket: I recently upgraded my setup with the Arlo Pro system, which has been a reliable choice for over five years. Pairing it with Starlink has opened up new possibilities, but it hasn’t been without its challenges.

Initially, connecting the Arlo base station to Starlink via an Ethernet adapter worked seamlessly. However, lately, I’ve noticed intermittent wired connection drops between my VMB4000 base and Starlink. This issue persists even after purchasing a new Arlo base from eBay. It seems like a firmware update on either Arlo or Starlink might be the culprit.

While troubleshooting, I considered adding an Ethernet switch between the Arlo base and Starlink, but I’m not sure if that would resolve the issue. I’m hoping to find a solution that simplifies the setup rather than complicating it further.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with motion sensors and light automation. I have several ST motion sensors spread across different rooms, and I’m trying to fine-tune their settings to avoid unnecessary light triggers. For instance, in the kitchen, I want the lights to stay off while I’m working and only activate when I move towards the landing area. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but I’m determined to crack it!

The smart home ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and it’s inspiring to see how technology can enhance our daily lives. Whether it’s ensuring my security cameras are always online or creating a seamless lighting experience, every challenge brings a new opportunity to learn and improve.
