Exploring Smart Home Automation with Broadlink and Sonos

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey! One of my recent projects involved setting up an automation to control my Sonos Connect and Pioneer receiver. The goal was to have the receiver turn on, switch to the correct input, and adjust the volume whenever I started playing music through my Sonos system.

Initially, everything worked perfectly when I triggered the automation manually. However, I noticed an odd issue: the automation didn’t activate when I started the Sonos from my phone’s Spotify app, even though the logs showed it was firing. This was puzzling! I spent hours troubleshooting and even reached out to some forums for advice. Turns out, the issue was related to how the Sonos app communicates with the receiver. After some research, I found a workaround by adjusting the automation’s trigger conditions.

This experience taught me the importance of understanding how different devices interact within a smart home ecosystem. It also highlighted the value of community support—without the insights from other users, I might still be scratching my head!

If anyone else is working on similar automations or has encountered quirks with their Sonos setup, I’d love to hear your experiences and tips! Let’s keep the learning and sharing going! :rocket:
