Exploring Smart Home Automation with Centralite Pearl Thermostat

I’ve recently taken the plunge into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the devices I’ve been working with is the Centralite Pearl Thermostat. It’s a sleek, Zigbee-enabled thermostat that promises seamless integration with my SmartThings setup. However, I’ve encountered a bit of a hiccup along the way that I’d love to share and see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

So, here’s the deal: I’ve managed to create routines that turn the heat on and off without any issues. But when it comes to adjusting the temperature through routines, things get a bit tricky. For instance, I’d love to set the temperature to a specific level when I leave for work or before bedtime. Unfortunately, the routine doesn’t seem to execute the temperature change as intended. It’s perplexing because manually adjusting the temperature via the SmartThings app or even through Alexa works perfectly fine. The problem solely arises when I try to automate this process through a routine or a scene.

I’ve tried simplifying the routine to its most basic form—setting the temperature at a specific time—and yet, nothing happens. The thermostat remains unchanged, which is quite frustrating. I’m currently running version 1.6.92.23 of the SmartThings app, and the device is utilizing the SmartThings Zigbee Thermostat driver, version 2022-11-22T20:04:04.50490979. I’m wondering if this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround that I’m not aware of.

On a positive note, the Centralite Pearl Thermostat itself is a fantastic device. Its interface is user-friendly, and the temperature adjustments are smooth when done manually. It’s just this automation aspect that’s been throwing me off. I’m hopeful that with some troubleshooting or community input, I can get this sorted out.

If anyone has encountered this issue or has any suggestions, I’d be incredibly grateful for your insights. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate the wonderful (and sometimes tricky) world of smart home automation!
