Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions. I recently started working with ESP32 modules and Z-Wave devices, and it’s been an exciting journey, but definitely not without its challenges!
One of my recent projects involved creating a custom Z-Wave poller for some old Aeotec dimmers. I’ve managed to set up a basic driver, but I’m running into an issue where the devices don’t show up in the Z-Wave Poller app. I’ve added the “Polling” capability to the driver, but I’m wondering if there are any additional steps I need to take to make this work seamlessly. Any insights from the community would be greatly appreciated!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with ESP32 and DIN rail power supplies. I picked up a 5V DIN rail adapter and tried wiring it up for my ESP32-based presence sensors. The goal was to install them recessed in the wall for a cleaner look. While the concept sounds great, I’m still figuring out the safest and most efficient way to wire everything. If anyone has tips or best practices for this setup, I’d love to hear them!
I also wanted to touch on the topic of firmware updates and device compatibility. I recently upgraded my system and noticed some rules that were working perfectly before are now acting up. Specifically, my energy monitoring rules for the KP125 plugs aren’t triggering as they used to. It’s frustrating because the logs show the power changes, but the actions aren’t executing. I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues post-upgrade and how they’ve resolved them.
Lastly, I’d like to express my gratitude to this amazing community. The support and knowledge shared here have been invaluable to me as I navigate the sometimes tricky waters of smart home automation. Keep up the fantastic work everyone!
