Exploring Smart Home Automation with FHZ 1350 PC and Velux Windows

Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey into the world of smart home automation! I’m currently working on automating my new home using the FHZ 1350 PC system and Velux window openers. It’s been a fascinating process, but I have a few questions and experiences I’d love to share with you all.

First, let me walk you through what I’ve set up so far. I have 10 Velux roof windows, each equipped with 24V motors and roller blinds. The goal is to control these windows and blinds in pairs, groups, or individually. I’ve read that using relays with polarity reversal can help control the opening and closing of the roller blinds, which is great. I’m planning to use one or more 24V transformers for power.

Now, the challenge I’m facing is integrating a wind and rain sensor system into my setup. The sensor system I have includes three potential-free switch contacts. I’m curious about the best way to connect this to the FHZ 1350 PC system. Should I use a specific interface module, or is there a more straightforward way to program the automation rules? I’m also wondering if there are any best practices or common pitfalls I should be aware of when integrating such sensors.

Another aspect I’m exploring is the automation of the roller blinds. I want them to adjust based on the weather conditions detected by the sensors. For instance, if it starts raining, I’d like the blinds to close automatically. Similarly, on windy days, I might want the windows to close partially to prevent damage. I’m not entirely sure how to set up these conditional automations within the FHZ system. Any advice or examples would be incredibly helpful!

I’m also considering the user interface. I want to make sure that the system is easy to control, both through the FHZ PC and potentially via a smartphone app. Is there a way to create a simple dashboard that shows the status of all windows and blinds, as well as the current weather conditions detected by the sensors?

On a more positive note, I’ve been impressed with the reliability and performance of the Velux window openers so far. They operate smoothly, and the integration with the FHZ system seems seamless once everything is properly configured. I’m also grateful for the wealth of resources and forums like this one, where I can find solutions and share experiences with fellow enthusiasts.

If anyone has successfully integrated a similar setup or has tips on optimizing the automation rules, I’d love to hear from you! Whether it’s about the hardware integration, software configuration, or user interface design, your insights would be invaluable.

Thanks in advance for your help and for sharing your expertise. I’m looking forward to learning more and taking my smart home automation to the next level!
