I’ve recently started my journey into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an exciting ride! One of the first things I wanted to tackle was controlling my Somfy motorized blinds and curtains using my Google Home setup. I’ve heard so much about how seamless this integration can be, but I wanted to dive in and figure it out myself.
At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities. I knew I needed to use some sort of voice command or automation to set my blinds to a specific position, but I wasn’t entirely sure how to go about it. After some research, I discovered that using the Homey platform could help bridge the gap between my Somfy motors and Google Home. It’s been a learning curve, but I’ve managed to create a few basic flows that work wonders!
For example, I’ve set up a routine where I say, “Hey Google, set the living room blinds to half position,” and voilà—they automatically adjust to the perfect spot. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in how I interact with my home.
