I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey!
One of the things I’ve been most excited about is integrating my Govee devices with some older X10 modules I still have lying around. While Govee’s products are known for their sleek design and ease of use, combining them with legacy systems like X10 has been a great way to get the most out of my setup.
Earlier this week, I stumbled upon a really helpful guide on using the exec binding in openHAB to trigger X10 devices via a CM-17A Firecracker. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I managed to set up a basic automation where pressing a button in my habpanel triggers the corresponding X10 module. The process involved setting up the exec binding, whitelisting the necessary commands, and creating some rules to handle the button presses. While it took a bit of trial and error, the satisfaction of seeing everything work together was worth it!
On the Govee front, I’ve been absolutely loving my new Govee scale. It’s incredibly accurate and the app provides great insights into my daily progress. However, I did notice that the trends section only allows for viewing data on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. I’d love to see options for 3-month or 6-month views added in a future update—it would make tracking longer-term trends much easier!
If you’re looking to integrate older devices into your smart home setup, I highly recommend checking out the exec binding for openHAB. It’s a powerful tool that opens up a lot of possibilities for custom automation. Plus, combining it with modern devices like Govee’s products creates a seamless and versatile ecosystem.
