Exploring Smart Home Automation with IKEA and Homey

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the highlights has been integrating my IKEA smart home devices with the Homey ecosystem. However, I’ve encountered a bit of a hiccup that I’d love to share and see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Earlier this week, I noticed that my IKEA remotes and motion sensors stopped working after updating to Homey Pro 7.0.1. Despite successfully pairing them again, pressing any button on the remote or triggering the motion sensor didn’t activate the connected flows. Interestingly, my Hue remote and Z-Wave devices still function perfectly, and flows triggered directly from the app work without issues. It’s a puzzling situation, and I’m curious if others have faced this problem or have any solutions to share.

On a more positive note, I’ve been experimenting with creating an automated shading system using Home Assistant. The goal is to adjust the blinds based on the sun’s azimuth, brightness, and outdoor temperature. It’s a project that combines several smart home elements, and I’m thrilled with how it’s coming together. I’ve set up triggers that adjust the blinds at specific azimuth angles and temperatures, ensuring optimal natural light while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. It’s a great example of how smart home technology can enhance daily living!

If anyone has tips on refining this automation or insights into the IKEA device issue, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue exploring the endless possibilities of smart home automation together!
