After showing my dad my home automation setup, he was amazed by how many different systems work together to control everything. It made me curious about how others set up their systems. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- Hubitat - The backbone of my system.
- SmartThings Hub - Connected to Hubitat via HubConnect.
- Bond IO Hub - Controls my ceiling fans.
- Tasmotized Sonoff RF Bridge - Listens for RF signals from water leak sensors and motion sensors, generating MQTT messages.
- Raspberry Pi with Node-RED - Listens for MQTT messages, sends HTTP requests to Hubitat, creates automatic backups, and pings hubs to check connectivity.
- Android Phone with Tasker - Listens for notifications from Eufy and Wyze cameras, sends HTTP requests to Hubitat.
- Logitech Harmony Remote - Adds a touch of elegance to my setup.
- Alexa - Voice control integration.
- Google Home/Assistant - Another layer of voice control.
- HomeKit - Activated on my Apple TV, though I’m not actively using it yet.
I’ve also been exploring adding Zigbee2MQTT for some budget-friendly Ecosmart remotes and integrating Wyze Sense. It’s fascinating how these systems can work together, but I’m wondering how others manage their setups. Do you have similar systems, or have you found a more streamlined approach? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips!
